The fashionable Park Avenue was thrown into, a turmoil to-day, when two detectives, with a cruising squad, in a car. stopped four men who were in an automobile. The detectives questioned the men on suspicion. Then one of the men reached for his gun. The detectives started tiring, wounding three ol the men, and capturing the other one. One of those wounded, when he found that lie was cornered and was unable to escape, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head. The four men were identified as escaped criminals. As the shots ricochetted against th" buildings along Park Avenue, the luncheon crowds rushed into the apartment foyers.
