MONTHLY MEETING. [OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, July 13. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening. Present: Mr G. A. Perry (Mayor), Crs J. King, H. L. Michel, E. Teichelmann, A. J. Thompson, E. L. Park, H. T. Parry, A. R. Elcock, T. W. Duff. An apology was received from Cr. G. Heinz. The following correspondence was dealt with. A. R. Elcock, application for consent to private way (approximately Bft wide) over Part Section 262, Weld Street, Hokitika.—Granted. N.Z. Refrigerating Co. advising that the following quantities of meat were delivered into Hokitika during the month of June, 1935, viz., 34 sheep. Mr F. J. Bade, asking that part of Tudor Street, leading to his property, be cleared of growth. The Board’s representative, No. 12 District Highways Council, Greymouth, advising that the contractor for the sealing of the Highway had; now been released from his contract, and that the highway is now returned to the control of the Council for maintenance purposes, and pointing out that it may be necessary next summer to apply fine gritty material to any portions of the sealed coat which may become sticky in the hot weather. Hokitika Harbour Board notifying that harbour work at the foot of Revell Street, may necessitate the temporary closing of part of Gibson’s Quay, until the work is completed. Secretary, Canterbury Progress League (Westland Committee) asking for a grant in aid for West Coast Publicity Drive purposes.—Grant; passed. The Inangahua County Council, asking what financial assistance the, Council is granting towards the WestCoast Publicity Drive. —Dr. Teichel/ maim and Town Clerk to reply. Mr F. Oliver, on behalf of the Trus-. tees of the Methodist Church, extending an invitation to the Mayor; and members of the Council to be present at the morning service on July 21, being the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Church in Hokitika. Robt. Ford and Co. Ltd., pointing out that they have a chain of footpath along the Brewery frontage, in Davis Street, which is kerbed, and intimating that if the Council would consider asphalting this portion of the footpath, they would pay a proportion of the cost. —Granted. Mr R. W. Palmer, application for permission to instal a septic tank on section in Brittan Street.; —Granted, subject to Health Inspector. Secretary, Westland Hospital Board forwarding a copy of estimates for 1935-3 G, as approved by the Health Department, the Hokitika Borough Council’s proportion of the levy is £1,125/11/3, as against £746 for last year. n , The Abattoir report showed stock slaughtered: Bullocks SO, cows 20, calves 54. pigs 9, sheep 226, lambs 70. heifers 10. Condemned, 1 cow, 2 bullock®, 2 sheep. Fees for month amounted to £73/13/6.
