REEFTON NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

REEFTON, June 17.

There were no services at St. Stephen’s Church on Sunday for almost the first time in the history of the Church. Sunday School was held as usual but no minister being available the usual services could not be held.

Mr. W. Bett, accompanied by his mother, left for the North Island on Saturday on three weeks holiday. On Friday and Saturday Reefton was visited by two of the heaviest fogs yet experienced for the Winter. Sunday was a dull but clear day with a little wintry sunshine. Members of the Women’s Institute conducted a successful Shop Day on Saturday as a result of which the Rest Room fund is considerably augmented. Mr. H. Evans of the staff of the Reefton School of Mines has accepted a position on the staff of the Western Development Coy. at Nelson Creek.
