OPERA HOUSE. “The Girl from Missouri,” current attraction at the Opera House, is another laugh panic to the tune of a show girl whose big ambition is to marry a millionaire. Jean Harlow, Lionel Barrymore, .and Franchot Tone are featured. As the show girl Miss' Harlow gives one of her finest performances, in a role that is admirably suited to her talents. The deft manner in which she takes care of the characterisation is very reminiscent of the success that brought her stardom. Franchot Tone, who shares the love interest with Mifcs Harlow, has'recently been seen in “Dancing Lady”. “The World . Moves On.” Lionel Barrymore, who appears as Franchot Tdne’tJ father, needs no introduction. The featurettes to be shown include Fitzpatrick Travel Talk, “Egypt”; No. 5 of “Goofy Movies” Cartoon; and Musical Revue. On Monday afternoon; commencing at 2.30 o’clock, the first screening of “I Am Suzanne” will be shown. REGENT THEATRE. A new attractive double feature programme commences to-night at the Regent Theatre, and will be shown also at the matinee to-morrow and tomorrow night. “Love Time,”,an unusual film, is one of the m ? ost sparkling and delightful screen romances ever to emerge from Hollywood. It is a fascinating story from romantic incidents in the life of Franz Schubert, one of the world’s greatest composers. The exquisite young “Pat” Paterson is seen as the sweetheart of the youthful Schubert. The composer is player by Nils Asther. For both these young players, “Love Time” affords the finest acting opportunities of their career; and both respond with performances of stellar calibre. Barbara Stanwyck, star of “Gambling Lady,” which is the other feature, is supported by Joel McCrea and Pat O’Brien, who share honours as the two leading men. Both are rivals for the love of Miss Stanwyck. McCrea as a wealthy society man and Pat in the role of a race-horse gambler. The picture is based on a thrilling story of a square shooting gambling lady who weds a man of wealth and then sacrifices her own love to free her husband from a murder charge of which she knows he is guiltless.
