NEW DOMINIONS SECRETARY ? [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, May 24. The “Sun-Herald” News Service says: “It is now possible that Mt. J. H. Thomas will leave the Dominions Office in the Cabinet reconstruction. It is believed that Lord Halifax was sounded regarding Mr, Thomas’s office. Lord Halifax is desirous of retiring, after his arduous term as Viceroy of India (1926-1931), followed by his no less strenuous duties as President of the Board of Education, but it is understood he might remain, if the Dominions Office is vacant.” POST FOR MR. CHURCHILL? (Rec. May 27, 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 26. The process of Cabinet reconstruction was advanced during the past week, but any forecast would be pure speculation. An announcement is exf pected at an early date. Mr. Lloyd George’s conversations with the Cabinet are proceeding. The “Daily Express” believes the post of Ministry of Defence will be created and offered to Mr. Churchill. Several newspapers foreshadow that Mr. Malcolm MacDonald’s post will be Secretary of the Dominions, or the Colonies.
