SKELETON FOUND IN SHIP
DISCOVERY AT LONDON DOCKS
A strange drama of the sea was disclosed when the Norwegian steamer Boreas arrived at West India Docks yesterday from New Orleans. Customs officers who went on board in the course of their routine search camo upon the skeleton of an unknown man ■wedged between the ship's side and the water tank amidships. The police were informed, and the remains were taken to Poplar Mortuary. Later, detectives visited the ship and spent the whole dav and a good part of last night questioning lite captain and members of the crew.
It. is believed the skeleton is that of a coloured man. though only a medical examination will definite l '' establish this. The skull had the frontal slope and protruding chin suggesting this. Tliery was a gold tooth in the lower jaw.
Tho skeleton was a inert' heap of bones, and it is believed to have lain in its hiding place for a long period. One suggestion is that the remains are those of an unfortunate stowawav.
