A witness in a case in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth was asked by j cross-examining counsel as to her mode of dressing when at home on the farm on which she lived. A suggestion made to her that she went about with "flowing” hair prompted Mr .Justice Callan to interrupt and say that from his observation he found it difficult to visualise, in the case of this witness, “flowing” hair. "Nowadays,” he added, "hair does not flow." Counsel replied that perhaps his description contained just a touch of oratory. "Well,” said his Honor, "perhaps you would reserve your oratory for the jury.”
