WOMAN PILOT’S FIGHT
KNOCKS MAN SENSELESS.
NEW YORK, April 10
. .Miss Annett Gipson, a well-known aeroplane pilot, saved her life while flying over Roosevelt Field, Long Island, by knocking a passenger in her ’plane unconscious with a fire extinguisher to make him loosen his grip on the controls.
She had taken a young man who wished to become a pilot for a training flight in a two-seater dual control monoplane, in which he occupied a seat immediately behind her. When she started to descend he seized one of the controls with so much force that she was. unable to manage it with the other.
Fearing that’ it would go into a spin she started to ascend again, but at a‘ fresh attempt to land her companion again interfered with the controls. After two further attempts Miss Gipson 'seized a fire extinguisher and gave him a blow on the head, causing him to collapse in his seat. She then made a perfect landing.
