HOKITIKA NOTES

[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, May 3. The Pirate Football Club held a meeting last evening, when Mr. A. H. Lawn presided over a good attendance. Representatives from Ross and Kiwi clubs were present. After considerable discussion, it was decided that the Club could fulfil its ’fixtures, and that it considered that it was in the best interest of football locally that the clubs’ delegates should oppose the application of the Excelsior Club from entering the Greymouth competition. The annual meeting of the Hokitika D.H.S. Ex-Pupils’ Association was held in the Town Hall last evening, Mr J. L. Menzies presiding over a fair attendance. A report of the year’s activities was read, and lhe balance-sheet showed a small credit balance, which was considered to be satisfactory for the inaugural year. The following officers were elected: —Patron: The Mayor, Mr. G. A. Perry (re-elected); President: Mr. J. L. Menzies (re-elect-ed); Vice-Presidents: Messrs. J. H. E. Schroder and W. E. Williams (reelected), and Mr. A. R. Elcock; Secretary: Miss E. Robinson (re-elected); Treasurer: Mr. 11. M. Coulson (reelected); Auditor: Mr. M. H. Houston (re-elected); Committee: Mr. G. Delbridge (re-elected), Miss Chinklater, and Messrs. A. J. Keller and E. -E. Richards. The Association decided that, if necessary, it would find the badges for the prefects each year at the school. . Mr. J. H. E. Schroder outlined his notice of motion, which was to be brought up at the next meeting, and spoke strongly to the effect that all expupils from the primary departments, as well as the secondary depaitinent, should be eligible for membership in the association. It was decided to write congratulating Mr. W. Northcroft, an old boy of I the school, on his being appointed to la Judgeship.
