Women’s Singles, third round: Whittingstall beat Senorita Lizana 6/3, 4/6, 6/4. Women’s Doubles: Mrs Pitman and Miss Yorke beat Mrs Hopman and Miss Ford 6/4, 6/2. Mixed Doubles, second round: Prenn and Miss Dearman beat Peters and Mrs Peters 7/5, 6/4. 9/5. AUSTRALIANS ARRIVE. LONDON, May 1. The Australian tennis players arrived at Bournemouth. The only persons to welcome them at the station were Lawn Tennis Association . officials, and Andrews of the New .Zealand team.

Andrews told the Australian Press Association that Stedman and Malfroy will play in the singles against Australia. The doubles pair has not been chosen.

Andrews has recovered from a sprained ankle. The New Zealand team is being coached in London. The Australians go to Eastbourne on May 4, to practise for the Davis Cup tie. .
