‘ROYAL’ PAINTER’S GRIEVANCE
COURT PROCEEDINGS FAIL [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Recd. April 27, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 25. There was a further Royal Academy surprise. Homerville Hague, who has painted more Royal portraits than any living artist, is applying for a summons against the Committee to show cause why It rejected his painting, “Band playing at Saint James’s Palace.” A friend says that the Academy has not accepted a number of Hague’s pictures since 1914. He thinks it is time to take drastic action. APPEAL TO KING. (Received April 27, Noon). LONDON, April 26. The Magistrate at. Marlborough Street informed Homerville Hague that he had no power to issue a summons against the Committee of Academy to show why the pictures were rejected,.' He '.suggested that Hague, should lay an information. ■Hague says that he will do sb.' He is also going to ask His Majesty to withdraw the Academy’s Charter. He said he is determined to continue the fight even to the Privy Council.
