MEAT WORKS THEFT

MEN’S DRUNKEN PRANK. [per press Association.] WELLINGTON. April 26. Three men, Alexander C, Asher, Gilbert Mahoney and Arthur E. Mullis, were jointly charged to-day with the theft of three dressed pigs, and about 100 pounds of pork fillets, valued at £S 0/7, from the meatworks at Ngahauranga. It was stated that Asher had been employed at the works for 14 -years. He is married witn six children. Muslis is married with three children, and has been in employment at Petdne for 12 years. Mahoney is single and employed by a Petone carrying firm.

Counsel asked that the matter be regarded as a drunken prank. The men had been drinking.at Petone, and Asher suggested that they go to Ngahauranga works to look at pigs of which he was in charge.

Accused were admitted to probation for IS months.
