Although no fatal motor accidents were reported in New South Wales yesterday, seven persons were killed in Western Australia in three smashes, and three were killed in Victoria, when a car crashed into a tree. KILLED BY TREE. SYDNEY. April 20. Unable to escape a willy-nilly, which tore through the mountain Valley in Cawongla district, North Coast, Andrew Vidler. 22, was crushed to death, when a 50 foot tree uprooted by the wind fell on him. Vidler saw the willy-nilly approaching, and ran. but was caught ainid the flying trees. A path. 50 yards wide, was torn through the tall timber in the mountainside. THIEF AT BANK SYDNEY, April 19. The police report that an attempt was made yesterday by an armed man to hold up the branch of the Commonwealth Bank at Ultimo. He allegedly presented a revolver at the manager and teller, and demanded several bundles of notes, but the bank officials refused. The manager reached for his own revolver whereupon me ' would-be thief rushed off. A shot was I fired at him without effect.
