White House has announced that President Roosevelt will personally greet Admiral Byrd on arrival at Washington on May 10, aboard the Bear of Oakland. Byrd’s previous expedition returned directly to New York. To-day’s announcement is the first intimation that a special welcome programme has been arranged. On the evening of their arrival, Admiral Byrd and the members of the expedition will be entertained at a reception by the National Geographic Society.
