Damages amounting to £7444 sterling, equivalent to £9305 in Australian currency were granted by Mr Justice Haise Rogers in the Commercial Causes Court to-day to the firm of Davis Limited, wine and spirit merchants, of London, in their £250,000 sterling claim against Tooth and Coy., Ltd., of Sydney. The case was decided in favour of plaintiffs. By consent, however, a stay of proceedings for foui teen days was to-day granted, pending an appeal. “SUSTENANCE” STRIKE. MELBOURNE, March 22. The Central Unemployed Commission decided to extend the sustenance work strike throughout the State, and all work in return for sustenance has been declared "black.” It is reported that seventeen thousand men are involved. The Trades Hall Council is raising funds for the strikers. WHEAT GRANT. I CANBERRA, March 22. The Royal Commission on the wheat industry recommended the Commonwealth Government to allocate its £573,250 grant for relief to wheatgrowers, as follows: New South Wales £100,000; Victoria £192,000: South Australia £127,000; Western Australia £137.000; Queensland £12.000: Tasmania £5,250. Tho Acting Prime Minister (Dr Page) introduced a Bill, to-day, authorising the aforementioned grant. VICTORIAN CABINET. MELBOURNE, March 23. | Sir S.
