KING’S JUBILEE

NEW ZEALAND PROGRAMME. [PER press association.] WELLINGTON, March 16. The Prime” Minister (Mr. Forbes) states that the Government is considering an appropriate plan for simultaneous celebration in the Dominion of the King’s silver jubilee, in England. A departmental committee has been set up to prepare a scheme for submission to the Government. It is probable that the cities will be asked to assist in decorating and lighting the streets and public buildings, and that the Governmet Department binldings throughout the country will also be decorated by flags and bunting. Suitable commemorative ceremonies will probably be arranged in the main centres.

AUSTRALIAN PROPOSALS. SYDNEY, March 15. Part of the King’s Jubilee celebrations, at Sydney on May 6 will be an extra race meeting at Randwick under the \ auspices of the Australian Jockey Club, in which the principal race will be the Jubilee Cup of a mile and a-half. It will carry a stake of £1750 and the conditions will be similar to those of the King’s Cup. The remainder of the programme will be equally attractive. The Government to-day proclaimed May 6 a public holiday for New South Wales. The Post Office will issue six special Silver Jubilee stamps bearing portraits of various members of the Royal family, Windsor Castle, and the Royal yacht, Britannia. The New South Wales . Government granted £2OOO for expenditure by the organising committee which is controlling the King’s Jubilee celebrations, a feature being a thanksgiving service in the Centennial Park.

STATUETTE OF PRINCE. LONDON, March 15. A distinguished gathering at the house of Freda Lady Forres viewed a statuette of the Prince of Wales made by the late Charles Jagger. It is an unconventional portrait, and is the property of the Queen. It shows the Prince in a tennis costume. A limited number of copies will he cast. It is hyped to present one to each of the Dominions as a souvenir of the King’s Jubilee.
