“EXPLOITATION” ALLEGED. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] CANBERRA, March 15. , In moving the adjournment of the House of Representatives to-day, Mr Makin, the Labourite from South Australia, attacked C. 11. Chapman, alleging that he had recruited youths for the Granites Goldfields, paying them less wages than the awards prescribed. Mr Makin described Mr Chapman as an exploiter of labour. Mr Paterson, the Minister of the Interior, declared that Chapman was bound to pay the award wages under his agreement with the Government, which had advanced him funds for the development of mining in the Northern Territory. Mr Paterson added that he was making full inquiries into the whole of the allegations by Mr Blaine (Northern Territory M.P.), as cabled yesterday, and by Mr Makin. COMPANY’S' DENIAL SYDNEY, March 16 A lengthy statement was issued by the Arnheim Company denying the allegations of Mr. Blain. A similar statement was issued in Adelaide by Mr. C. H. Chapman.
