SAAR ADMINISTRATION
GERMANY TO TAKE CONTROL. [British official wireless.] (Recd. February 28, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, February 27. Warm praise for the services in the Saai* of the international forces is contained in a letter circulated among members of the League of Nations. The letter, which is signed by Mr Kpox, after expressing appreciation of the rapidity with which the troops were despatched, refers to the exemplary conduct and perfect discipline observed by them. Not the slightest incident occurred between the international force and the Saar population, while complete harmony prevailed among the various contingents, thanks to the- “close and intelligent co-opera-tion maintained between their commanders, under the authority of the general officer commanding in chief.” The Italian contingent left Saarbrucken for home yesterday, after a ceremony in which Major-General Brind bade them farewell. A company of the East Lancashire Regiment formed a guard of honour on the station, and the British and Italian national anthems were played. The administration of the Saar will be handed over to the German Government on March 1, by the Committee of Three, which will take over from the Governing Commission to-morrow. From then, the German police will assume responsibility for maintaining order. KNIGHTHOOD PREDICTED LONDON, February 27. The “Daily Express” forecasts that Mr. Geoffrey Knox will be knighted at the King’s Jubilee.
