A cablegram from Melbourne announced the death of Sir John Grice.

Constable J. F. McGlynn left to-day for AVellington, on annual leave.

Miss E. Moss left to-day, for Christchurch, where she will reside.

Mr. T. Gateson left, this morning, on return to Wellington.

' Detective F. Sinclair left to-day, on return to Nelson.

Mr. J. Mahoney left, to-day, on return to Christchurch.

Mrs F. Gilmore, Arney Street, left to-day, on a holiday trip to Christchurch.

Mr R- Hawkins, who has been visiting the AVest Coast, returned to-day to Christchurah.

Mr George Hogg, of Nelson, who has been visiting the AA 7 est Coast, left to-day for Christchurch.

Mr AV. Farrar, who has been visiting Hokitika, returned to-day to Christchurch.

Mrs. Hugh Smyth, of Otautau, is on an extended visit to the Wbst Coast, and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. James Hambleton, Greymouth. ,

Mr. W. P. Hewitt, of Annat, left by to-day’s express, after spending a month’s holiday with his daughter, Mrs. J. AVillis, of Ruru.

The wedding took place yesterday, at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, of Hilda Rena, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Scott, Nelson, and Richard William, son of Mr and Mrs Olson, of Blaketown: Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn conducted the ceremony.-

The engagement is announced of Mary Courtenay, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ( C. Daly, High Street Greymouth, and Lawrence 1 Basil Debenham, of Greymouth, bldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F, Debenham, Oxford, North Canterbury.

Guests at Revington’s include: Mr. G. Grow (Masterton), Mr. and Mrs. S G Bowron, Mr. R. Richardson (Christchurch), Mr. G. Hurley (Nelson), Mrs. E.’Buchanan (Ashburton), Mrs. G. Watson (Timaru), Mr. W. A. Fraser, Mr. H. McMin, (Wellington).

The death occurred, at Hokitika, last evening, of Mr Stanley Davies, a native of > Ballarat, Australia, aged 55 years. Deceased, who was a ,former resident of Ngakawau, is survived by one daughter, Mrs P. Morley. South Beach, and two sons, Lincoln and Mervyn, both of Ngakawau.- The funeral will take place privately, at Grey mouth, to-morrow.

The death occurred suddenly at. Greymouth, last evening, of Mr Clement John Rundle, a native of No Town, aged 57 years. Deceased was talking with friends, at the top of Griffen’s Hill about 8 o’clock, when he collapsed suddenly, and died. Deceased, who had been under treatment for a heart ailment for some time, was for many years a railway surfaceman, and later joined the Waterside Workers’ Union. He is survived by two sisters, Mesdames R. Heffernan (Greymouth), and W. R. Moore (Cobden), and two brothers, Edward and Thomas, of Greymouth. The funeial will take place at Karoro Cemetery, .-tomorrow afternoon.

The wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, last, evening, the contracting parties-being Urba (Billie), younger daughter of Mr and the late Mrs A. Kilpatrick, of Boddytown, and Joseph Montgomery Johnstone, of Christchurch. Rev. H. R. Fell officiated, i>n<l the service was fully choral. The bride, who was escorted by her father, were a frock of ivory crepe-de-chine cut on classic lines, with her lovely tulle veil uncommonly arranged with a large bow at the nape of the neck. She' carried an armlet of cream lilies. Lace formed the train, which was hold by little Beth Franklin (Chris? church), who wore an ankle-length frock of maize crepe-de-chine, with large butterfly sleeves of tulle, and a bandeau of real flowers in her hair. Tho bridesmaid, Miss Mabel Kilpatrick, of Christchurch, sister of the bride, was attired in a gown of dusky pink georgette, with insets of lace outlining the deep armholes and joining two panels which feel the full length of the frock at the back. She wore a bandeau of real flowers, and carried an armlet of flowers in pink shadings. Mr Keith Kent was beat man. Mrs Kilpatrick wore . a frock of black georgette, relieved with touches of pink, and a -smart black straw hat. She carried a posy of pink carnations, and asters. Mrs Johnstone, of Christchurch, mother of the hridegioom, wore a figured crept*-do-chine frock of autumn shades with block hut ami silk coat. Her posy was of gold roses and dahlias. Mr and Mrs Johnstone left later by ear for C’hi istchurch, where they will reside.
