[by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. I—COPYRIGHT.] 1 —COPYRIGHT.]
SYDNEY, February 27
A suggestion that an Empire conference should be held to develop travel within the Empire was made by Mr. Adam Hamilton, when addressing the New South Wales Travel League, which entertained the Minister at luncheon to-day. Ho said that such a conference would bring about, a greater knowledge and understanding among Empire uiiits, and would considerably enhance Empire trade and co-operation. It would also help shipping in a practical manner. He had no doubt that an equitable method of securing funds for such a development could easily be propounded. Mr. Hamilton suggested that when the Empire Prime Ministers met at London for the King’s Jubilee, they should discuss preliminary arrangements for a conference of the kind indicated. He hoped as a result of his visit to Australia that there would be greater co-operation between the Commonwealth and the Dominion in the matter of developing tourist traffic. This was becoming a more and more important revenue-producing factor. It was not subject to hampering by (pintas. nor faced by the possibility of over-production.
