He was the recipient of many congratulations. SWIMMING RECORD. NEW YORK, February 24. The “New York Times’s” Buenos Aires correspondent states: Pedro Candioti, who is 43 years of age, claimed the swimming endurance record of 87 hours in the water, swimming down the Parana River from Santa Fe to Searato, which is 51 miles above Bairesu. The total distance he swam is 281 miles. This is his third unsuccessful attempt to v swim from Santa Fe to Bairesu. BOXING. SYDNEY, February 26. At the Sydney Stadium, the American, Phil Zwick, 9.2 i, defeated the Australian lightweight champion, Herb Bishop, 9.51, on points, in fifteen rounds. The American, with crashing rights, twice floored the Australian, in the thirteenth round. SOCCER LONDON, February 25. English Cup, fifth round replay: — Preston v. Bristol City 5/0.
