BLACKBALL NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The wedding was solemnised on Saturday at rhe Catholic Church. Blackball, of Margaret, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Kidd, of Atarau to Leslie David, son of Mr. W. Neilson and the late Mrs. Neilson, of Blackball. The church was decorated with dahlias and asters. Rev. Father O’Meeghan officiated and Miss L. Campbell was organist. During the t'oremony “Ave Maria” was sung hy Mr. Duffy. The bride was escorted hy her father, and wore a delphinium blue ensemble, with smart hat relieved with beige. She carried a sheaf of mauve pink asters. Miss Mollie Kidd attended her sister as bridesmaid, wearing a. Jrock of blue crepe marocain relieved with white and a large picture hat to match. The best" man was Mr. Ron Neilson. The wedding reception was held at the residence cf Mr. and Mrs. J. Kidd, where the bride’s mother received her guests, wearing a black costume and a black straw hat relieved with wine. The newlymarried couple left later for Canterbury on their honeymoon.
The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Blackball Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. was held in the lodge room last evening, Sister J. Robertson presiding over a large attendance of members, including District Grand Master Bro. Wills and Deputy-Grand Master Bro. R. Clarke and visitors from Reefton and Greymouth lodges. The Noble Grand welcomed the visitors, and Bros. Wills and Clark suitably replied. Correspondence of a routine nature was dealth with. The secretary notified that the agenda papet had not been received from the District Secretary. Bros. Cruse and McLuskie were appointed to represent the lodge at the annual conference. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Blackball Lodge U.A.O.D. was held last evening, Bro. V. Goodall presiding over a fair attendance of members. Sick pay amounting to £6/10/- was passed for payment and reports on sick members were received ns satisfactory. At a well-attended meeting ol whippet enthusiasts, held during the w('('k-“inl it was decided to iorm a local Whippet Club. A strong commit' Ice was set up to go into details. As a large number of local enthusiasts are acquiring dogs, a day’s sport will be held here as soon as arrangements can bo made.
