DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
DEPARTURE FROM SAMOA. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] APIA, February 8. The Duke of Gloucester, visited cocoa plantations in the central group this morning, and in the afternoon attended a native reception at Mullnuu, in which over ten thousand natives took part, the celebrations including the King’s kava. There was a touching ceremony’ at the wharf on the departure of the Duke, when farewell songs were sung by the Malifa and Avele school choirs. The royal visit has been a great success from a native and European point of view. The weather has been exceptionally fine throughout. LONDON’S WELCOME. LONDON. February 7. The City of London Corporation decided to tender an afficial welcome to the Duke of Gloucester at a luncheon at the Guildhall after his tour. Major Cow, making the proposal, paid a tribute to the Duke, and he expressed the opinion that the city would thereby’ express the feelings of both Britain and the Dominions.
