OPERA HOUSE -TO-NIGHT. “The Kid Prom Spain’* with Eddie Cantor as the pop-eyed matador,. and a hundred dark-eyed senoritas in a lusty tale of Mexican bullfighting ana love making is to be presented tonight, Thursday and Friday. Nonsense and song propel a gay fable of love, a story of the dark smiling eyes that give matadors the grace, and valour of Spain’s noble sport with Eddie as the unwilling matador. Three songs in which the electric blonde comedienne, Lyda Roberti, joins Eddie, enable them to tell you what happens “In the Moonlight,” of “What Perfect Combination,.” and “Look What You’ve Done” against a background of lavish beauty, beautiful girls, tuneful music and spirited dance. Prominent in the cast that supports Eddie and Miss Roberti are Robert Young, John Miljan, Carroll Naish, Noah Beery, Stanley Fields, and playing the role of no one but himself, Sidney Franklin, the Brooklyn boy who went to Spain and became the world’s greatest bullfighter. At Blackball to-night “The Last

Houiid Up” will be shown, and at Waiuta “The Silence of Dean Maitland” will be shown to-night.

WATERSIDERS’ PICNIC

This annual feature will take place •at Hokitika on Saturday, and a very pleasant programme of events . has been arranged by the committee. Cheap railway fares place the outing within the reach of all, and hot water, milk, sugar and tea, are free, as well as ice creams and soft drinks for the children. Races and a baby ‘ show supported by the Municipal Band, will be features of the day’s outing. Trains leave Greymouth at 9.30 on Saturday morning, and leave Hokitika on return at 6.30.
