SHENANDOAH (Pennsylvania),

January 21.

Ten anthracite coal miners were killed by an explosion one thousand feet underground here. It was apparently the result of an accumulation of gasses. Fifty-nine other miners out of 650 who were working in the shaft ’were overcome by tho fumes, but they were all rescued. One was so seriously injured that he may die, while two men are reported missing.
