‘ SWIMMING. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] MIAMI, December '3l. Eight national and one world records were broken on the first day of the National Olympic Stars swimming meeting. Mrs. Eleanor Holm Jarrett swam 150 yards backstroke in one minute fifty-two seconds, which is 1 1-5 seconds better than her own previous world mark. TENNIS PARIS, December 31. At the Christmas tennis tournament, in the final, Borotra defeated Lesuer 8/6, 6/4, 5/7, 6/4. BILLIARDS. LONDON, January 1. A break of 130 in fifteen minutes, the highest made in the boys’ billiards championship enabled Donald Cruickshank, 14, of South Shields, to enter the final. The previous record break for a boy was 114. Cruickshank’practices two hours daily, and hopes to become a professional.
