ANNUAL RETURNS
SHIPPING FIGURES. During the month of December ended to-day 27 vessels (aggregate tonnage 12,893) entered the port of Greymouth, as compared with 25 vessels (aggregate tonnage 12,025) during December last year. Twenty-seven vessels also left -the port this month, of an aggregate tonnage of. 14,093 tons, in comparison with 26 vessels, aggregating 12,969 tons, last December. For the 12 months ended to-day, there were 312 inward vessels, and 292 departures, while in the previous year there were 249 inward and a similar number of outward vessels. RAINFALL. A total of only 95 points of rain fell during the month of December this year, the lowest rainfall for the month of December on record. The highest fall for any one day was on December 12, when 85 points fell. There was rain on only 3 days, December 12, 20 and 31. In December last year, 7.26in5. of rain fell on 12 days, the maximum fall for any one day being I.sSins. During the year ended to-day, S3.llins, of rain fell on 145 days, as compared with 101.51 ins. on 190 days during last year. WELLINGTON, December 31.
