N.Z. TOURIST TROPHY. [per press association.] AUCKLAND, December 30. Averaging 53.7 miles an hour over a gruelling 168 miles course, A. Bradley, of Nelson, won the fifth annal New Zealand Tourist Trophy motor cycle race at Ostend, on. Waiheke Island, on Saturday, in the record time of Shrs 7mins .33secs. His mount was a 499 C.C. Budge. It was ridden to victory last, year by S. Moses, formerly of Auckland, and now of Wellington, the winner oi three out of the four previous contests, who did not compete this time. Bradley’s success was particularly noteworthy, for not only did he establish a new record, but he defeated A. Mattson (499 C.C. Rudge), of Auckland, the winner in 1932, by a margin of Imin 18sec. Third place was filled by L. Sowerby (350 C.C. Velocette), of Auckland and C. Goldberg (348 C.C. Velocette), of Auckland, was fourth. Then came J. Dale (499 C.C. Rudge), of Auckland, and M. C. P. Jones (499 C.C. Excelsior), of Wellington.

Bradley, Mattson and Sowerby broke the previous record of 3hrs 11 mins 58Jsecs, set by Mattson. There was particularly keen competition among the eighteen riders who started, and only four were forced to retire. There were several minor spills, but no one was injured seriously, and not one of the machines was damaged to any extent.
