BREAKING OF THE ICE. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LITTLE AMERICA, December 27. The chief topic of conversation today here is the breaking of the Bay of Whales ice, which is now sailing in huge floes towards Ross Sea. The only other item of interest was the receipt of a brief wireless message from the Blackburn Geological Party, indicating that explorations had established that the vast elevated plateau encircling the South Pole is connected with the recently-discovered Maria Byrd Land Plateau.
