AERODROME ROAD.

[to the editor.] Sir, —I notice in Friday’s “Star,” at a meeting of the Borough Council, it. was almost decided to close the adjoining road to the aerodrome, as it would be considered a source of danger. Now, how can it be a danger to anyone considering the road runs due south on the east side of the ’drome, and there is no possibility of a plane rising or landing from that direction. The only chance of a plane rising or landing is from the north, south or west. If a plane took off to go east the chances are it would land in the Hospital somewhere. If it is dangerous to use this road for traffic, well the ’drome has no possible right, to be where it is, as it will be a source of danger to the residents in the locality. In my opinion, they have a perfect right to protest. In any case, I think the whole thing has become a joke, and the Council would be well advised to put a road through the centre of this land and then cut it up into building sections, from which they should get a decent revenue. I notice Cis. Williams and Neville stated this road was used only occasionally, and not six cars per day. To show these gentlemen they don’t know what they are talking about, I will mention four milkmen, two butchers, two bakers, besides meat lorries, timber waggons and vegetable carts, ■which use this road every day, besides cattle and sheep, which are taken to the Abattoirs. All this traffic would have to go some other round-about way if this road was closed. Every day there are from forty to fifty vehicles using thfts road. Only to-day (Sunday) we counted no less than fifteen cars pass from 4.40 to 5 p.m., so I think from the foregoing it is up to the residents of Blaketown and Preston Road to gut in a strong protest about the road being closed.— Yours, etc., W. BEALE. Preston Road.
