WEEK END RESULTS UNITED v. MARIST B. The West Coast Cricket Association’s competition was continued yesterday, in warm fine weather, despite rain in the morning. Wickets generally were good and grounds, fast. Runanga, the leaders in the competition did not arrive on the Recreation Ground for their match with Marist A. until 2.45, owing to some misunderstanding as to whether the game was to be played. A start was then made and a bright game, in which over 360 runs were scored in three hours ten minutes, ended in a draw. United were again successful this time at the expense of Marist 8., whom they defeated by 36 runs, after an interesting game. Cobden A. secured a two-point win over Stars, while the Cobden B — Brunner match was abandoned owing to rain. Two matches were played at Greymouth on Saturday, between teams from the Greymouth Technical and the Hokitika District High Schools, the latter winning the senior game, and Greymouth winning the junior game. Marist third graders scored a threepoint win over Camerons at Camerons'.

TWO POINTS FOR UNITED. Playing on the turf wicket at the Recreation ground, United scored a two-point win over Marist B, after an interesting game. United won the toss and batted, but as a result of splendid bowling of Greenwood, were all out for 120 (Nightingale 20). Greenwood bowled 20 overs, including 10 maidens for 6 wickets for 28 runs. Marist B. looked to have a good chance of winning, but with the dismissal of L. Casey the scoring slumped, and all were out for 84, 36 runs behind United. The Marist A —Runanga match on the No. 2 wicket at the Recreation Ground did not commence until 2.50 p.m., one hour and 20 minutes late, owing to the late arrival of the Runanga eleven. The visitors won the toss and fielded. Marist A played bright cricket to score 189 for 6 wickets declared (O. Morris 84, retired, N. Bayley 43, Mathews 25), in an hour and a-half. The Runanga bowling was weak. At stumps, Runanga had scored 171 for 8 wickets, the game being drawn. Harrison 42, J. Timlin 41, J. Williams 29, and Hunter 21 were the most successful batsmen for Runanga. It is understood that Marist will claim an outright win on account of Runanga arriving so late. Scores:—

COBDEN DEFEAT STARS. Cobden A scored a two-point win over Stars at Cobden yesterday, winning on the first innings. Stars were all out for 42 runs in their first innings, D. East not out 19, being the only successful batsman. Knowles 3 for 4 and Bowker 2 for 5 secured the averages. Cobden A scored 11S in their innings (Knowles not out 28, Fiddler 26, Mclntosh 24). RAIN STOPS PLAY

Rain stopped play in the Cobden BBrunner match at Taylorville, at 4.15 p.m., when Brunner had completed their first innings. The game was drawn. Brunner compiled 106 runs, 'Hoggarth batting throughout, to score 50 not out. Neill, 4 for 52, was the most successful Cobden bowler. Four Brunner batsmen were run out. UNITED BEAT TECH. 0.8. A friendly match, played on Saturday afternoon, between United and Technical School Old Boys, resulted in a win for United by 139 runs to 133. Technical Old Boys batted first, the best efforts coming from Marshall (47) and Vincent (30). In bowling, Heasley took 4 for 42, Jarvis 2 for 28, Muir 1 for 24, Woods 1 for 4 and De Freatus 1 for 8. Best scorers for United were Woods (19), De Freatus (34), Muir (20), Jarvis (21), Louisson (not out 21). Vincent took three wickets for 46, with Bayley, McCarthy and Marshall each securing one. THIRD GRADE MATCH. Playing at Camerons, on Saturday, Marist defeated the home eleven in a third grade match, to score three points. Marist batted first to make 100, principal scorers being Pollock 17, Tindale 29, Gilbert 21. Camerons replied with 60, McConnon (31), and Jones (16), being the only batsmen to withstand the bowling of A. Bayley, who collected seven wickets at a cost of only 18 runs. In the second innings, Marist declared with three wickets down for 95, Bayley 35, Clancy 28, and Pollock not out IS. batting well. Camerons collapsed in their second strike, being dismissed by Baylev (6 for 4), and Pollock (3 for 18), w'ith only 24 runs scored. Robinson, not out 14, was the only player to make a stand.

SCHOOL MATCHES. The Hokitika District High School, and Greymouth Technical School senior teams met at the Recreation 1 Ground on Saturday. Hokitika won on the first innings. Having first use of the wicket, Hokitika made 123, to which Donaldson (40), Pierson (25), and Hanrahan (34), were the doublefigure contributors. Klnapp took 4 wickets for 17 runs, Leo 4 for 5, and Gifkins 1 for 16. Technical School could muster only 64 runs, of which Vaughan secured 39. he being the only batsman to reach double figures. The bowling honours went to Morgan, 3 for 23, Johnston 1 for 13, Donaldson 2 for 6. Hanrahan 1 for 6. Hokitika had lost 8 wickets for 51 runs, at stumps, Knapp, Gifkins. Vaughan and

Lee taking wickets. On the Technical School grounds, the junior Hokitika High School, and Technical school teams met, Technical winning on the first innings. Hokitika made 50 in their firs,t effort, the highest scorers being J. Breeze 13, and Itaine not out IS. Thomson took six wickets for 19 runs, Aims, Haglund, and Dewar taking one each. Technical replied with 94, Haglund (43), Sumner (15) and Sharman (19), doing best. Millar took five wickets for 14 runs. In their second innings Hokitika made 82 for 6 wickets, then declared. Breeze contributed 33, Knowles 14, and Ingram not out 16. TJtomson took 3 wickets for 20 runs. At stumps. Technical had scored 15 runs without loss of a wicket.
