WEATHER FORECAST General Inference: A deep and very extensive cycone is now centred west of the South Island. There are southerly gales over the western half of the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Strong northerly winds of gale force at places, backing to southerlies after about 24 hours. Weather still, unsettled, and heavy rain likely, with some flooding. Seas rough, with a heavy swell.
