DEATH OF A SHOWMAN
CLAIMED TO BE SEQUAH. Mr Hannaway Rowe, who was one of th© many who claimed to be Sequah, the famous itinerant quack, died recently in a one-roomed apartment in Vincent’s Walk, Southampton, aged 93. His passing removes a picturesque personality who to thousands will be remembered as one of the greatest showmen of the past generation. Mr Rowe 'tvas reppted. to have run through several fortunes, and was famous for his .-supposed cures. He employed brass bands, cowboys, and Indians, to a’ttract attention to his medicines. He \vqs also yve.llknown as a dentist, and drove everywhere in a carriage drawn by four horses. Mr Rowe, son of a naval surgeon, went to Southampton during the war land found employment as a nightwatchman in a factory.
