RUNANGA NOTES

[oup. own correspondent.] The Runanga Caldonian Society held a Children’s Hallowe’en Party in the Gymnasium Hall last evening, and there was a large attendance. The winners of the various competitions and dances were: Peanut Race: Misses B. Gillaly and J. Isherwood, and Masters D. Bell and M. Hillhouse. Potato Race: Misses J. Wright and I. Muncaster, and Masters J. Hillhouse and M. Hillhouse. Tailing the Pig: Miss J. Maskill and Master W. Massey. Blowing the Candle: Miss N. Bell and Master R, Maskill. Monte Carlo: Misses «T. Beil and E. McLean. Lucky Spot; Master M. Hillhouse and Miss M. Isherwood. The Committee’s Potato Race: Mrs J. Bell and Mr. W.. Page. All the children received fruit and sweets during the evening. After' supper at 10 o’clock, an adults’ dance was held, and the Monte Carlo was won by Mr. J. Rae and Mrs J. Reid. Mr. J. Marley supplied the music. There was a good attendance of members and friends at the social af-

ternoon held on the Haeremai Croquet Club lawn on Wednesday, when the various competitions were held. Afternoon tea was served. Winners of the competitions were:—Mrs Hill (golf croquet), Mrs McCracken (zig zag), Mrs Wilson (putting), Mrs McCracken (long shot). ,
