[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.] SYDNEY, October 10. It was reported from Melbourne today that the Victorian Golf Union intends to prohibit Gene Sarazen and J. Kirkwood from using any registered golf course in Victoria for giving an exhibition of golf prior to the Centenary golf fixtures. Mr M. W. Roberts, the President

of the Victorian Golf Union, in a statement, said: “We cannot allow Sarazen and Kirkwood to commercialise the game. If they play oh unregistered courses before the Centenary We may have to consider what we shall do abbut their entries for the big events. We are under a heavy expense, and we have tried in vain to get the New South Wales golf authorities to help us to organise our Cefttenary fixtures. Consequently • we are under no obligation to New South Wales, and it is quite unreasonable to allow Sarazen and Kirkwood come here and scoop up all of the money before our big events.”

Kirkwood, interviewed at the Manly links to-day, expressed amazement at the Victorian Union’s attitude, which he described as “unsportsmanlike.” He said: “It completely upsets our plans, as it is quite unlikely that golfing enthusiasts would want to see us in exhibition matches after we have taken part in, say, ten days of Centenary golf.” ,A CLOSE GAME. SIDNEY, October 10. ; Sarazen and Kirkwood had an Exciting matchy at . Manly to-day with J. Ferrier and H. Hattersley.
