One million pilgrims gave a royal welcome last, night to Eugenio Cardinal Pacelli, the Papal Legate to. the thirty-second International Eucharistic Congress, which opens today at Buenos Aires. Cardinal Pacelli was accompanied by Papal Court dignitaries. They reached port aboard the s.s. “Conte Grande,” the Legate receiving a twenty-one guns salute from the shore battery.
The Cardinal entered the cathedral for -a brief service, after being welcomed, and he was then escorted by the Grenadiers to the residence prepared for him.

The thirty-second international Eucharistic Congress was opened today by Cardinal Pacelli, before the continent’s greatest assemblage, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from all overthe world gathering about a cross 100 feet high, at Palermo Park. Four other Cardinals, and hundreds of bishops, priests, diplomats, and Cabinet members are participating. A choir of 500 sang as the Cardinal Legate arrived.
