REEFTON NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, September 15., The Westport Primary School football team were matched against the Reefton Primary Schools’ team at the Reeftcn Racecourse yesterday afternoon. The local boys put up a good fight against their opponents, but they were outmatched in height and weight, and. the game ended in favour of Westport, the scores- being 26 to nil. The team left later for Hokitika. The Committee of the Reefton Whippet Club met on Thursday evening, Mr A. Winchester presiding. It was resolved that the Strand be rented at the terms offered by the Domain Board, also that the A. and P. Association be notified that the Club is willing to put on three whippet races at the annual A and P. Show, provided that the prizes are given for the events by the A. and P. Association. Mr .1. M. Irving was elected patron of the Club, and seven new members were elected. A working bee is now preparing a track on the Strand and training work will shortly be starting on tile track. Several dogs are being trained lor the meeting at Runanga, and the local Club expect to hold a gathering at an early date. The Reefton League Club's junior team will he matched on Sunday next against a Hornby junior team.
