The Endeavour and the Rainbow were given a final grooming to-day, preparatory to the opening of the contest for the America’s Cup on Saturday. . . . ~ , The concensus of lay opinion is that there is little to choose between the two yachts, with the palm for beauty and unity of design going to the Endeavour. NEWPORT, September 13. Asked to comment on the London cablegrams questioning the Rainbow’s adherence to the rules governing construction, Mr Sopwith said: “I intend to abide by the New York Yacht Club rules. I have no protest.’’
