AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S TITLE. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, September 10. In the women’s golf championship semi-finals, results were: —' Miss Gaisford (N.Z.) defeated Mrs. Russell, four and two. Mrs. Robinson defeated Miss O. Kay (N.Z.), one up. Miss Kay largely owed her defeat to a number of missed short putts. Nevertheless, her opponent played superb all round golf, being accurate on greens, and sinking one thirty footer. Mrs. Robinson gave the impression that she was going for everything. The New Zealander played rcstrainedly. Both got a splendid length with their tee shots, . and although tho seconds were occasionally poor, they made wonderful recoveries, after being two down at the thirteenth,! , Miss Kay won the fourteenth, halved the fifteenth, missed a three foot putt] to loes the sixteenth, and won the seventeenth. Both were on the green in three at th© eighteenth, and they missed short putts, and it was halved in fives to give th© Sydney i player the match. Miss Gaisford was too strong for Mrs. Russell, and turned one up. She lost the tenth, where she took three putts. Then she won the eleventh. Mrs. Russell was disqualified at the twelfth for drying a ball which had! lodged in a pool of water. Miss Gaisford, with two halves and two wins, took the match at the sixteenth hole. She will meet Mrs. Robinson over 36 holes in th© final to-morrow. There is still another defection from the Tasman Cup team. Miss L. Wray is unavailable. Her place will be filled bv Miss Leslie Bayley, of Melbourne, while Mrs. Clive Robinson becomes captain, instead of Miss Wray. ' ,
