Miss C. Me Ara, Omoto Road, who underwent an operation at the Grey River Hospital last evening, was reported, to-day, to he in a satisfactory condition.

The death occurred yesterday at Auckland of Archdeacon R. H. Cole, formerly Archdeacon of Taranaki. He had a varied ministerial career, and served the Anglican Church in many parts of the Empire. He was 74 years of age.—Press Assn.

The death occurred at Wellington last night of Captain Collin Francis Post, former Marine Superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Company, and master of the Government steamer. He was 76 years of age—Press Assn.

Mr H. M. Hopper arrived yesterday, from Whangarei, and commenced duties at the Greymouth office of the Labour Department, to-day, as successor to the late Mr. F. G. Davies. Mr. H. Gatward, who has been acting temporarily at Greymouth, this evening, on return to Welhn 3 - ton.

Advice has been received of the death at Christchurch Hospital, yesterday, of Walter, younger son of Mr and Mrs W. Neilson, 510 Barbadoes Street, St. Albans, and formerly of Runanga. Deceased was a member of the Canterbury schoolboy Soccer team, which toured the Coast last year, and a brother of Mr J. Neilson, of Cobden.

A remarkable tribute was paid to the memory of a. London Liberal Member of Parliament, the late Mr , Frank Bryant, when his funeral took place at Lambeth.. The greater part of Mr Bryant’s 'life was devoted to work among the poor. Every political, social, and philanthropic'organisation in the area was represented at a church service, as well as many members of both Houses of Parliament.—Official , Wireless.

The death occurred at Te Puke on Wednesday, of Renati Rangi Puawhe Te Keepa, premier chief of the Tuhourangi Hapu, Arawa tribe, and a grandson of Major Keepa, a leader during the Maori ’ wars. Ranati’s father, Keepa Te Rangi Puawhe, was one of the leading chiefs of the Arawa tribe, and for his services to the Crown during the Maori wars he was presented by Queen Victoria with a standard Which is still preserved at Whakarewarewa.
