GERALDINE. TIMARU, September 6. Though several members are still suffering from influenza, the Australian hockey team gave a splendid display when thev defeated Geraldine SubAssociation to-day by eight goals to nil. The combination and stick work of the visitors was a delight to watch, the game being particularly fast in the first half, though the pace slackened in the second session. J. Allen, the visiting centre forward played a great game in spite of the fact that he was obliged to leave the field for a short period owing to the effects of influenza. Tester, Leggett and Penman also showed out, while Lee was invaluable as centre-half. W. Rule, the Geraldine custodian, played an outstanding game, and but for his splendid display, the score would have been much higher. There was a large attendance. Goals were scored for the winners by Allen (4), Tester (2) and Stenning (2).
