SENIOR LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP Play in the Greymouth Ladies’ Championship has reached the.final round; the finalists, Mrs. J. W. Hannan and Miss N. Tennent. will play to-morrow to decide the championship. The results of the first and second' rounds were as follow: — FIRST ROUND Mrs. Cunningham beat Mrs. Prescott 7 and 6. Miss N. Tennent beat Mrs. McCarthy 3 and 1. Miss Kelly won by default from Miss Griffen. Mrs. Hannan beat Mrs. McKay 5 and 3. SECOND ROUND Miss N. Tennent beat Mrs. Cunningham 3 and 2. Mrs. Hannan beat Miss Kelly 5 and 4. UNEARNED DIVISION Following is the draw for a match to be played on Saturday:— Miss Shorland v. Miss A. Hambleton. Miss Costello v. Miss McKenzie. Miss Blair v. Miss J. Smith. Mrs. Fleming v. Miss Skinner. Mrs. Fuller v. Miss Deere. Miss Carroll v. Mrs. Hickman. Mrs. Wallis v. Miss Daly. Mrs. Sturkey v. Miss McDonnell.

With a brilliantly played 79 in the final qualifying round of the Australian women’s'golf championships, Miss Oliver Kay (New Zealand) equalled the course record established by Miss Betty Gaisford yesterday. Miss Kay went out in 37 and came home in 42. Misses Gaisford and Kay headed the list of qualifiers for the match play with 16 i. Following are the scores of the first eight of the sixteen qualifiers:—Miss Gaisford 79—82—161; Miss Kay 82— 79—161; Miss C. Lascelles (Melbourne) 83—83—166; Miss M. McLeod (Melbourne) 82 —85 —167; Mrs. Clements (Sydney) 85 —82 —167; Miss V. Ebert (Sydney) 83 —85 —168; Miss J. Hammond (Sydney) 84 —86 —170; Mrs C. Robinson (Sydney) 87 —S3 —170.. Miss Shirley Tolhurst, the Victorian State champion, tied with three others for fifteenth and sixteenth places, but did not participate in the play-off, she returning home, as she is suffering from influenza. Miss Kay is also suffering from influenza. The trophy for the greatest number of holes played in the bogey score or better was easily won by Miss Gaisford with 12 yesterday and 12 to-day. The Challenge Bowl for a 36 holes stroke handicap played in conjunction with the qualifying rounds, was ’won by Mrs. R. A. Clements, with an aggregate of 153 (handicap; 7). Miss Gaisford, whose handicap was 2, was fourth, with an aggregate of 157. Miss Kay was unlucky with her putts, several times lipping the cups. At the twelfth hole she played a magnificent shot out of a water bunker, and sank a four foot putt to obtain a birdie four. At the eighteenth, in an endeavour to achieve a 78, she missed a three foot putt, due to over anxiety. Miss Gaisford played faultless golf, but unluckily found bunkers at the seventh and twelfth holes.

SYDNEY, September ft, Miss Oliver Kay, though not yet completely recovered, will definitely play to-day. All games are temporarily held up by the rain. VICTORIAN AMATEURS. MELBOURNE, September 6. The semi-finals of the Victorian amateur golf championship resulted: H. Williams defeated W. Edgar, 3-2. Ryan defeated A. Jackson, 4-3. U.S.A. PROFESSIONALS. NEW YORK, September 5. Jacobus gave the Australian Press Association the following statement: — “The team of American professionals representing the Professional Golfers’ Association, will sail from Los Angeles on October 17, in the Mariposa, for a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Matches are scheduled for the key cities, but indications are that more will be on the programme before the tour is under way. Members of the team are: —Paul Runyan (capt.), Craig Wood, K. Y. Laffoon. Densmore Shute, Harry Cooper, and Leo Diegel. Sarazen and Dutra are unable to go, Sarazen because of previously scheduled engagements, and Dutra because of his present physical condition. The schedule will be as follows: — Nov. 7 and S, Sydney, U.S.A, versus New South Wales; Nov. 15, 16, 17, Melbourne Centenary; Nov.
