FISHERY DISPUTE
ANGLO-NORWEGIAN AGREEMENT. [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, September 5. The Norwegian Government has agreed to send representatives to London, early in October, to negotiate an arrangement for the settling of claims between British and Norwegian fishermen for . damage to gear in waters adjacent to the Norwegian coast. In the course of the discussions, consideration will be given to t lip report submitted to the British Government by Captain Fraser, of H.M.S. Harebell, which recently visited the fishing grounds off the Norwegian coast, in company with Norwegian fishery patrol vessels. Captain Fraser, who was received in the most courteous and friendly manner by the Norwegian officers, was able to discuss both with them and the Norwegian directors of fisheries, the practical difficulties which require solution. It is hoped that the meeting in October will not only enable arrangements to be reached for a more expeditious settlement of claims for damage to gear, but will also serve to clear up misunderstandings of fact, and by the elimination of the practical cause of the dispute, create an atmosphere in which questions principally, if it is necessary to raise them, can be considered on their merits.
