Mr J. J. Coyle returned yesterday from Christchurch.

Mr R. E. Keown left yesterday, on n visit to Christchurch.

Mrs. W. J. Chatfield will return to morrow, from a visit to Christchurch

Miss Mona Hannan returned by yesterday’s express from Christy church.

Mr. Justice Johnston and Mrs. Johnston, accompanied by the Judge’s associate, Mr. W. W. King, left for this afternoon.

Mr W. A. Flavell, managing-direc-tor of the Westport Coal Company, arrived by yesterday’s express from Dunedin, and proceeded to Westport.

The death occurred on Monday ol Mr Leonard White, of Langleydale Taitapu, one of the most successful stud stock breeders of the Dominion —Press Assn.

Rev. Brother Justin, former New Zealand Provincial of the Marist Brothers, and now Superintendent of the Marist Novitiate at Claremont (Tiiparu) arrived yesterday, on a visit to Greymouth.

The funeral of the late Lewis Moore took place this morning, at Karoro Cemetery. The cortege included members of the State Miners’ Union, of which deceased was a member. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn conducted the service.

Mrs Grace Baumgart, whose death occurred at Hastings on August 28, at the age of 81 years, was the widow of the late Richard Baumgart, master mariner, who was for over 25 years connected with the Wellington Harbour Board. He pre-deceased his widow by 21 years. Mrs Baumgart was born in Lerwick, Shetland Islands, in 1852, and came to New Zealand in 1877, arriving at Wellington in that year, where she resided until 192 C-, when she removed to Hastings. She is survived by three sons, Messrs A. L. and O. B. Baumgart, of Hastings, R. W. Baumgart, of Reefton, and one daughter, Mrs E. V. Simpson, of Hastings. |
