LATE MESSAGES
1 SAARBRUCKEN, September 2. Raiders entered the hospital at Sulzbach and carried off Peter Heidemann, a wounded Nazi, and took him to Germany. Heidemann was arrested for throwing tear gas bombs in a demonstration, and was so badly mauled by the mob that he was sent to hospital. The raiders dressed Heidemann and rushed him in a car across the frontier before the local police were ready for pursuit. CHRISTCHURCH, September 3. Mr W. Rothwell, manager of the Australian hockey team, and J. L. Allen, a player, are suffering from influenza. Several others of the team have colds. SYDNEY, September 3. The New Zealand contingent of horses reaching here by the Wanganella, arrived in good condition, Autopay looking particularly well. CHRISTCHURCH, September 3. After the second payment, the following remain in the New Zealand Derby Stakes:—Floodlight, Royal Thread, Sonoma Queen, Ironside, Lord Axworthy, Grace McElwyn, Graham Direct, Donaldo, Gratton Silk, Silk Cord, Levity, Boltaire, Drag Harlan, Subsidy, W.
