The world’s sculling championship will be decided on the evening of Wednesday next, September 5. SWIMMING. TORONTO, August 31. Marvin Nelson, of Fort Dodge, lowa, won the Canadian national exhibition fifteen miles swim for the third time in 366 minutes, winning five thousand dollars. Less than a dozen of the ninety contestants finished. BELFAST TROPHY. LONDON, September 1. The Belfast Tourist Trophy Handicap resulted: C. Dodson (M.G. Magnette), 74.75 miles an hour, Ist; E. Hall (Bentley) 78.40 miles an hour, 2nd; T. Fotherington (Aston Marton), 74.53 miles an hour, 3rd; Hon. Brian Lewis (Lagonda) 77.57 miles an hour, 4th. Forty started. It was a thrilling race. There were speeds approaching 100 miles an hour through towns, where the buildings were protected with sandbags. There were many minor accidents.
