N.Z. MEAT BOARD

ANNUAL MEETING. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, August 30. The annual meeting of the Meat Board was held to-day, Mr D. Jones (chairman) presiding. He said that the Board would shortly be approaching the Minister of Customs to try and arrange a reciprocal tariff with America, to enable it again to dispose of New Zealand meat there. Ho referred to the difficulties looming m connection with the British market, and said that, so far as New Zealand was concerned, the proposed levy was not within the range of practical policies, and could not be agreed to. Some questions were asked in regard to the Slaughtering Bill, and in answering them, Mr Jones .said a committee of the Board had been set up to discuss the details and amendments with the Department of agriculture, and the Minister.
