“SUICIDE A DEADLY SIN. “Suicide is one of the most deadly sins of the Hindu religion, and no Hindu would think of it but as a deadly sin.” Sir V. T. Krishna Machari, Primo Minister of Baroda, made this statement at an inquest at Alton, Hants, recently, on Valaingalan Krishnaswami Aravamudha Ayangar. 42, an Indian Civil Servant, who was. found beneath the window of his room at Moreland Hall, where he was receiving treatment for tuberculosis. Sir Basil Blackett, of Seymour-st., W., a former financial member of the Executive Council of the Government of India, said that Ayangar, whom he had known for 12 years, was recommended by a doctor to come from India to Moreland Hall. He took Ayangar to Alton on July 7, and had been in touch with him pretty closely. Recording a verdict of suicide, the coroner, Mr. A. L. Bowker, said that, despite the opinion expressed by Sir Krishna Machari,. he was of opinion that it was a case of suicide.
