BLACKBALL NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Blackball Lodge M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the lodge room, on Monday evening. Bro. A. Bowkett, N.G., presided over a fair attendance. Correspondence was received from London re presentation collars. Accounts to the amount of £4 were passed for payment. The hall committee’s report in regard to renovating the building was received. Bro. H. Hogg, A.D., presided over the meeting of the Blackball U.A.O.D. Lodge No. 59, held in the lodge room on Monday night. Sick pay amounting fb £7/16/6 was passed for payment. Bro. C. Hogg took the opportunity of bidding bon voyage and all success to Bro. F. Caldwell who leaves shortly for America. Bro. Hogg then presented Bro. Caldwell, on behalf of the Blackball Druids’ Lodge with a silver cigarette case suitably inscribed. Bro. Caldwell thanked the members for their valuable gift and good wishes. Prior to his departure for America a complimentary social and dance was tendered Mr. F. Caldwell in the Druids’ Hall on Monday evening. The evening was spent in games and dancing, music being supplied by Miss Jean Anderson and Miss M. Graham played extras. Musical items were rendered by the following: Song, Mr. Maxwell; duet Messrs. D. James and H. Hogg and songs by Mr. H. Quinn. After supper had been served by the Basket Ball Club girls, Mr. C. Hogg on behalf of those present presented the guest of the evening with a gold wristlet watch suitably inscribed and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr. Caldwell suitably responded and thanked them for their valuable present. Among those present were: — Mesdames Goodall. Balderstone, Gray, Hogg, Neilson, Smith: Misses B. Goodall, J. Frickleton, J. Anderson, N. Leitch, D. Mason, M. Waters, M. Graham, D. Balderstone, E. Quibell, V. Nelson, E. McDougal, M. Allen, L. Balderstone, C. Martin, M. Shields, C. Day, E. Day, J. Reid, V. McLuskie, G. Beale. Messrs. Davis (2), Goodall (2), Hogg (3), Gray (2>, Quinn, Caldwell, Fcnsom, Smith, Lansdowne, Maxwell, Martin, McNaughton, Humphries, Balderstone (2), Jamieson, Frickleton, Dumpleton, Pascoe. Mr. W. Kinsella who has been on an extended holiday visit to Christchui ch, has returned. Mr. W. Gerraghty, C hristchurch, arrived last evening on a visit to relatives. , _ Miss L. Dumpleton has left on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Miss Gwen Elsmore arrived home last evening from a brief holiday visit to Christchurch.
