Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Boucher le to-day, on. a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs. H. Moore and Mrs. Fisher lpft to-day, on a visit to Christchurch.

Mr P. J. McLean returned on Sai Urday, from a visit to Christchurch.

Mr J. Brown, Runanga, will leave to-morrow, for Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. W. McGregor, Blackball, left, this morning, on a visit to Christchurch.

Mr. J. O’Brien, M.P., accompanied by Mrs. O’Brien, left by this morning’s express for Christchurch.

Mr. P. C. Webb, M.P., who has been visiting Westport, left to-day, for Christchurch.

Mr J. M. Hepworth, of the Customs Department, Christchurch, has been promoted to be Assistant ExaminingOfficer at the Greymouth branch.

Mr C. Fraser, President of the Greymouth Waterside Workers’ Union returned on Saturday from a visit to Wellington.

Chief Judge Luxford, whose term of office has expired, will leave Samoa in September by the Maui Pomare. He has been appointed stipendiary magistrate for the Thames district of New; Zealand, vice Mr F. W. Platts.

The death has occurred at Nelson of John Newton Easdale, aged 82. In his young days, he served at sea, coming from Dunedin. He helped to build the old vessel Wakatu, on which he served, as mate. He later joined the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Company, and for fifty years was in charge of the boiler-making department. He leaves his widow and two daughters, Mrs. F. Hill and Miss Easdale, of Nelson. —Press Assn. .
